Denver’s Westword

The Orbiting Nubs have been called funk, metal, surf-punk
and pretty much every other sonic descriptor this side of easy
listening. And it's no surprise. The band, anchored by bassist,
Igor Panasewicz and drummer Marc Mariano, specializes in
genre-splicing as complex as any experiment in a DNA lab,
creating compositions that are groove oriented melodic, then
Fast and violent the next. The players have a fondness for unique time-signature play, as well as creating Earth shaking sound-scapes: Take "Head” (Deep Inside)  from the act's 2006 release, which offers a look at a man who is condemned to be nagged by his significant other, "Prozac” echoes the conscience of a mentally unstable person.
Doing the yowling for the band is founder Luke Davis, his
vocal style is reminiscent of Mike Patton, (Faith no More &
Fantomas) able to sing and scream with ease. Luke is an menacing individual to watch perform as he towers over his band-mates and looks as if he is going to destroy the stage.
The melody is provided by Guitarist Eddie Vegas and Bart
McCrorey. Together these two rip through catchy riffs and diverse lead guitar work. What you don’t expect is a lead sax player (Aaron Schilling) that put the weird but flavorful icing on the cake. To wrap things up, this six man assault on the senses is as entertaining and tight as they come. Be on the look out for their up-coming release “Deep in side” to be released Jan. 2006.

Wow! That's pretty much how I'd describe this mix of insanity... The Orbiting Nubs have found a way to mix so many musical genres it's insane. But don't get me wrong the music is tight and GOOD! No kidding, these cats have got it. Yes indeed my friends
The Orbiting Nubs are without a doubt on the edge of reality with their hybrid mix of music. Serving us with tracks obviously influenced with the likes of The P-Funk Era, Slayer, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers (Older Stuff of course), and maybe even a little Rage Against The Machine. Oh and don't forget to throw in some serious bass lines a la Primus. These are some serious musicians and their timing is impeccable.
If these cats are in your scene then your scene is hot! Get your asses out and catch them live because I have no doubt it will be well worth 3 times whatever the price is on the bill. I'm looking for big things from this band and expect to see it happen this year. If not then something is drastically wrong with the vibes in our universe. Get on it my friends and make your Nubs transit through our Orbit one time!
